The route starts at Dom Diniz Square and heads off northwards on the N229-1 towards Castaíde, where it takes a left onto the N226 towards Rio de Mel. It runs downhill into Rio de Mel before taking another left turn at the end of the village towards Rio de Moinhos, still going down. In Rio de Moinhos it takes a right turn and starts a climb of around 3 km back up towards the Historical Village of Trancoso. It enters the Historical Village through the main gate, along Rua de Corredoura as far as Dom Diniz Square.
