Sortelha

This Square is one of the entrances into Sortelha. With its current layout, it features some of the most imposing houses in the village. House Number One is the oldest, with a porched balcony and exterior staircase adjacent to the neighbouring house, the Council Scribe’s House. On the other side of Rua da Fonte, there is the Falcões House and an 18th century house, both with exterior stairs leading to the upper floor. Recent archaeological excavations have revealed that it was originally not so spacious and would have houses leaning against its southern slope.
