Linhares da Beira Efficient and Sustainable Village
Historical Villages of Portugal
Within the scope of enhancing the historic village of Linhares da Beira as an efficient and sustainable village, the Celorico da Beira Municipality's technical office has proposed building 'sanitary facilities' and a space with exterior arrangements for bus parking and a green area, with street furniture, as well as replacing the village's public lighting. The proposal is guided by the precepts of sustainable architecture and harmonisation with the surrounding natural and heritage landscape, without creating any discordant elements that could jeopardise the reclassification of the historic complex. The proposal will include the selection of materials and solutions with good performance and less impact, taking into account the climatic conditions and ecosystems present, prioritising the optimisation of construction processes in order to generate as little waste as possible and avoid the use of toxic and environmentally harmful products. On the road to environmental sustainability and in order to achieve carbon neutrality, innovative solutions will be implemented in the area of water efficiency versus energy efficiency to optimise and minimise energy and water consumption, which will lead to savings with a positive impact. The lighting study underway for the historic village envisages the implementation of LED solutions for public lighting, with intelligent devices to use renewable energy sources and minimise consumption.
