Haystacks of São Dâmaso

The old haystacks of St Dâmaso were subject to restoration work within the scope of the Historical Villages Programme under a project by Atelier 15 (Architects Alexandre Alves Costa and Sérgio Fernandez). This space was restored to house an Archaeology Workshop. The archaeological excavations preceding the project revealed part of the late Roman wall and one of its circular turrets. The wall design is reproduced in the upper part of the current construction. The space houses the equipment necessary for temporary residences for archaeological teams.
