The Nobleman´s Manor House
Castelo Mendo
Castelo Mendo
Building constructed in the 19th century, it is located on a large piece of land, occupying nearly the entire block. Of marked late classicist influence, it is a unique example in this historical village. It preserves the original plastered façade, although it seems to have been incomplete, since the work on the cornice and the south pilaster of the main facade were interrupted. It boasts a quadrangular lookout tower, whose size, striking in contrast to the rest of the historical village, seems to want to rival the bell tower of the S. Pedro Church. It belonged to the Peer of the Realm, António Fragoso de Albuquerque, a native of Lisbon and lord of Poço Velho (located between Vilar Formoso and Nave de Haver).
