The route departs the Historical Village of Castelo Rodrigo downhill to the convent of Santa Maria de Aguiar, before turning right towards Nave Redonda. After the village it turns left towards Almofala, but turns left again towards Mata de Lobos before reaching the village, now inside the Douro International Natural Park. After Mata de Lobos it continues towards Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo and turns left on the N221 as far as the access roundabout to the Historical Village, which looks down on you from on high. A climb up on the west side of the village brings the route to an end next to the gardens at the Rua da Cadeia entrance.
