Castle – Barbacâ

Castelo Rodrigo

Castelo Rodrigo

In military architecture, it is a wall opposite the walls, of lower height, with the function of defending the moat or fortification. After the reforms of D. Dinis the castle was surrounded by a barbican, forcing access to the interior of the fortress to be done in an itinerary of involvement, with the ability to shoot vertically. We can also observe the reconstitution of the primitive access to the Alcáçova on a ramp built under the intervention of rehabilitation of this Historic Village.
