Cistern
Castelo Mendo
Castelo Mendo
The cistern is located in the castle’s courtyard and its construction occurred during that of the first enclosure, that is, the late 12th century or early 13th century. With a vault-like construction, it collected rainwater, which ensured the water supply to the stronghold in the event of a siege. A popular legend says that milky-white flowers sprouted from the ground around it, which, together with linseed porridge, healed wounds.
