Solar do Marquês da Graciosa (also known as the Solar dos Andrades) – Tourist Office

Monsanto

Monsanto

It is a manorial house, also know as the manor of the Andrade family, dating from the 17th/18th centuries. It faces the manor of the Pinheiro family and is flanked by a remarkable older house. The two-storey house has its main facade divided by a frieze. It is flanked by corners with pilasters and trimmed with a cornice; punctuated by rectilinear openings with smooth mouldings, those of the upper storey being French windows. The escutcheon of the Andrade family appears between two of them. It is built on an inclined piece of land, the rear facade is set on a protruding exposed foundation. The building today is the Tourism Office. Inside, an atrium serves as the access to the rooms on the ground floor and to the upper story by means of an ashlar staircase; at the rear, there is a small covered veranda supported on Ionic columns.
