The route departs the Historical Village of Castelo Rodrigo towards the west and turns towards Vilar Torpim at the N221 roundabout. In Vilar Torpim it turns left towards Vermiosa and then left again towards Escarigo, where the route is just a stone's throw away from the Spanish border. After Escarigo it continues towards Almofala, turning right after the village towards Mata de Lobos, which is inside the Douro International Natural Park. After Mata de Lobos it continues towards Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo and turns left on the N221 as far as the access roundabout to the Historical Village, which looks down on you from on high. A climb up on the west side of the village brings the route to an end next to the gardens at the Rua da Cadeia entrance.
