Historical Villages of Portugal
With the aim of creating a self-sustaining and differentiated product, the Historical Villages of Portugal are developing a project to attract investors to the area. The proposal is to intervene in three areas: Grocery Stores, Taverns and Refuges.
The objective is clear. Success will involve attracting strategic investors to the area and thus raising the standards of the Historical Villages in terms of their tourism offer. Internally, the idea is for the project to serve as a lever for the region's economic development.
With this in mind, the AHP-ADT, in partnership with the Sortelha Parish Council and the Sabugal Municipality, inaugurated ‘CARDO - Taberna & Mercearia’. A space for gastronomic experiences, in an idyllic and genuine setting, with authentic flavours that reflect tradition, as well as the uses and customs of generations. It's a project that integrates a broad spectrum of activities, combining gastronomy, wine, biodiversity and sustainable agriculture. A vast and rich intangible heritage based on the knowledge of producers that drives CARDO's differentiation.
CARDO - Taberna & Mercearia’ is the first unit of the “Taberna & Mercearia Network of the Historical Villages of Portugal”, a new project and business model conceived by the AHP-ADT, which is intended to be extended to 12 villages. It's a way of stimulating local entrepreneurship based on the paradigm anchored in the trilogy: cohesion, innovation and sustainability.
